These words often echo through my sessions, especially when working with the energy of Insecurity—a deeply familiar emotion for many of us, but one we rarely take the time to understand or heal.
According to The Emotion Code by Dr. Bradley Nelson, insecurity is defined as a lack of confidence; feeling self-conscious or shy, often accompanied by a sense of being unsafe from danger or ridicule.
It can silently shape our thoughts and behaviors, limiting our choices, dampening our voice, and causing us to shrink when we were born to shine.
Where Does Insecurity Begin?
Insecurity doesn’t just arrive in adulthood—it’s usually planted in early life, through experiences of judgment, comparison, criticism, or abandonment. Sometimes, it doesn’t even begin with us. It may be inherited, passed down energetically through family lines—an emotional echo looking for resolution.
Once this emotion becomes trapped in the body, it influences our subconscious beliefs and energetic patterns. You may notice it showing up as:
- Second-guessing yourself constantly
- Feeling unworthy of love, success, or happiness
- Avoiding new opportunities out of fear
- Being overly concerned with what others think
- Holding back your voice, creativity, or truth
Even when things look fine on the outside, insecurity can live quietly in the background, coloring how we see ourselves and what we believe we’re capable of.
The Value of Releasing Trapped Insecurity
Dr. Bradley Nelson teaches us in The Emotion Code that emotions are energy, and when they become trapped in the body, they can distort our energy field, disrupt our health, and impact our mental and emotional clarity.
