What Your DNA Can Tell You — And the Layer That Lives Even Deeper

You have done the research.

Maybe you have had genetic testing. Read the books. Tried the supplements calibrated to your unique biology. You understand your inflammation markers, your detox pathways, your predisposition to anxiety. You have taken the one-size-fits-all approach off the table and replaced it with something personalized, precise, and science-backed.

And yet.

Something remains. A feeling in your body that the data has never fully explained. A pattern in your relationships, your reactions, your inner landscape that persists quietly beneath all the optimization. You have addressed the blueprint — and the building still feels off.

This is where a deeper conversation begins.

Your Genome Is a Map — And Every Map Has an Edge

The science of functional genomics is genuinely remarkable. Understanding how your DNA influences everything from hormone balance to neurological wiring to how you process stress is a profound leap forward in personalized health. It gives you agency. It gives you language. It shifts the question from what is wrong with me to what does my body specifically need.

That shift matters enormously.

And — the genome is a map of your biological inheritance. It shows you the terrain. What it cannot show you is every experience that shaped how you learned to move through that terrain.

Your DNA carries the architecture. Your body carries the story of how that architecture was lived in.

What the Body Holds That the Genome Cannot See

Emotional experiences leave more than memories. When an experience carries significant emotional weight — especially when it arrives before we have language for it, or before we have the safety to fully process it — it can lodge in the body as what Dr. Bradley Nelson calls a trapped emotion.

A trapped emotion is an energetic imprint. A specific emotional frequency that became stuck in a particular area of the body rather than moving through and completing its natural cycle.

These imprints influence how the nervous system responds. They shape the beliefs we carry about ourselves and others. They can create physical symptoms, recurring patterns, and a persistent sense of being held back by something we cannot quite name.

Here is what makes this especially significant: these emotional imprints can be inherited.

Research in the field of epigenetics — the study of how environment and experience influence gene expression — confirms that trauma leaves biological markers that can be passed across generations. What the science is beginning to map externally, energy healing has worked with internally for decades. The emotional experiences of your parents, grandparents, and ancestors further back still can be carried in your body today, shaping your reactions, your health, and your sense of self.

Your genome reflects your biological lineage. Your energy field carries your emotional lineage. Both are real. Both matter. And they address different layers of the same human experience.

Root Cause Has More Than One Address

The phrase root cause has become central to the language of personalized health — and rightly so. Addressing symptoms without addressing origins is, at best, temporary relief.

The question worth sitting with is: how deep does the root actually go?

In a session at Planet of Peace Energy Healing, we follow the body’s own intelligence to find the answer. Using the Emotion Code, Body Code, and Belief Code — a structured system developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson — we work with muscle testing and energetic protocols to identify what the subconscious is holding and what it is ready to release.

A session recently traced a client’s physical symptoms back 23 generations — approximately 690 years — to a traumatic experience in her maternal lineage. The emotions from that original experience had been passed forward through every generation since, amplifying in some, quieting in others, and finally surfacing in her body as something she had carried her entire life without understanding why.

When those inherited emotions were identified and released — across all 23 generations simultaneously — something in her body settled in a way that nothing else had touched.

This is root cause work at the level of the energy field. It reaches where the map ends.

Two Approaches, One Direction

Personalized medicine and energy healing are frequently placed in separate categories. One is scientific. One is alternative. One is data-driven. One is intuitive.

This framing is worth releasing.

Both approaches are asking the same foundational question: what is actually happening beneath the surface, specific to this person, that is shaping their health and experience?

Both reject the one-size-fits-all model. Both work at the level of individual biology and individual history. Both are oriented toward genuine resolution rather than ongoing management.

The difference is the layer being addressed. Genomics reads the biological blueprint. Energy healing reads the emotional and energetic field that surrounds and interpenetrates that biology. Together, they offer something neither can provide alone — a genuinely complete picture of a person’s inner landscape.

For those already working with personalized health approaches, energy healing is often described as the missing piece. The layer that explains what the data pointed toward but could not fully reach.

A Practice — Three Breaths for the Inherited Layer

Before you continue with your day, try this.

Place one hand on your heart and one hand on your solar plexus — the area just above your navel.

Take one slow breath, and as you exhale, silently offer this: I am willing to release what was never mine to carry.

Take a second breath, and as you exhale: I am grateful to those who carried it before me.

Take a third breath, and as you exhale: I return now to what is genuinely my own.

You need not know what you are releasing. Your body knows. Willingness is enough to begin.

When You Are Ready to Go Deeper

If something in this post landed — if there is a pattern in your life, a physical symptom, an emotional response that has resisted every approach you have tried — it is worth considering that the root may live in a layer you have not yet addressed.

Understanding why emotional patterns persist even when insight is already present is something I explore in depth in my article Why Emotional Patterns Repeat, published in Brainz Magazine. It offers grounding in the nervous system science that supports this work and may help bridge the gap between what you already understand and what your body is still holding.

When you feel ready to explore your own energetic and emotional landscape, I welcome you to book a session at Planet of Peace Energy Healing. Sessions are available in person in Bowmanville and Toronto, and worldwide via Zoom.

The body has been waiting for this conversation. So have you.
