What Is a Trapped Emotion?

As explained in The Emotion Code, a trapped emotion is a ball of energy created when we experience a strong emotional response but are unable to fully process or release it at the time. Grief is one of the most commonly trapped emotions. And it’s no wonder—grief often arises in moments when we feel powerless, overwhelmed, or broken open. The body, in an effort to protect us, sometimes stores that pain away until we’re ready to address it.

  • Career disappointment or lost opportunities
